Potential Large Scale Hazmat Response to 5.7 Earthquake

As a result of the earthquake yesterday, Unified Fire coordinated a potential large scale hazmat response with Kennecott’s highly prepared internal response teams. Fortunately, their preplanning and well designed infrastructure prevented a worst case scenario.
This response was a coordinated effort with Kennecott and Unified Fire with support and responses by Lehi FD, Park City FD, Salt Lake City FD, Unified PD, Utah Highway Patrol and the Utah 85th Civil Support Team. All of these resources have previously trained together and were well prepared to coordinate, though it was fortunate that this ended up being a staging drill.
